Course description
Two continuing-education hours for Florida construction licensees. Hour one is Wind Mitigation Methodologies, limited by Rule 61G4-18.001(3)(f) to the five topics of section 553.844(2)(b)1.-5., Florida Statutes: gable-end bracing, secondary water barriers, roof-to-wall connections, roof-deck attachment during reroofing, and opening protection. Hour two covers Florida Building Code wind resistance for one- and two-family dwellings: wind speed and exposure, the continuous load path, statewide and local product approval under section 553.842, and the wind-borne debris region.
Wind mitigation methodologies is a required hour at each renewal for General, Building, Residential, Roofing, Specialty Structure and Glass and Glazing licensees. The same two hours also match the Florida Building Code course described in section 489.115(3)(d) for applicants licensed in another state for at least ten years.
