When to renew

Kentucky electricians licenses renew every 2 years, on the schedule your board assigns to your license. Continuing education must be complete before you submit the renewal. The continuing education Kentucky requires

Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction requires 12 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years. The hours must cover these topics:

  • Master electrician / electrician / electrical inspector: all hours must relate to job safety, codes related to the electrical industry, or subject matter directly related to the electrical trade
