When to renew

Florida electricians licenses renew every 2 years, on a fixed statewide date — every licensee renews on the same day. The next renewal deadline is August 31, 2028. Continuing education may be completed at any time during the renewal cycle, as long as it is finished before the deadline. (Fla. Admin. Code 61G6-9.004; Chapter 489, Part II, Fla. Stat. (licenses expire August 31 of even-numbered years))

The continuing education Florida requires

Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board requires 11 hours of approved continuing education every 2 years. The hours must cover these topics:

  • Technical — at least 7 hours
  • Business practices — at least 1 hour
  • Workers' compensation — at least 1 hour
  • Workplace safety — at least 1 hour
  • Laws and Rules — at least 1 hour
